EMERGING DESIGNERS ASKED TO
EXPOSE THEMSELVES, FOR WHISTLER FASHION SHOW TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival
launches Designer Search and Expose contest
WHISTLER, BC , 31 January 2007 – 18 leading
lifestyle brands head slopeside April 20 for Fashion Exposed, at
the style-savvy showcase of snowsports and mountain life, the TELUS
World Ski & Snowboard Festival.
The Schick Xtreme 3 Fashion Exposed is a tightly choreographed
sensory assault that provides the ultimate ground-truthing of next year’s
lines. Before a fashion-forward crowd, including journalists, industry buyers
and a national television audience, the heat turns up as the spotlight shines
down on the newest in action sport and urban chic clothing.
The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, renowned for its 10 day and
night fusion of sport, music and arts that turns Whistler into the ultimate
spring destination, will sponsor a Wild Card entry to The Schick Xtreme 3 Fashion
Exposed .
BC designer hopefuls are invited to submit 5 samples of their designs
by February 22, and win the right to own the runway and make one
helluva statement to the world.
The top 3-5 entries will be showcased at www.whistler2007.com < http://www.whistler2007.com/ > with
the grand finalist being chosen by online voting. The winner will receive free
travel and accommodation in Whistler, and the chance to reveal 8 outstanding
looks on the Fashion Exposed runway.
“The Schick Xtreme 3 Fashion Exposed shows that style
is not just about rotational tricks and big air,” says Lilli Clark, Production
Coordinator for the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival. “Fashion
is a way for people to express themselves. And the Festival is a huge celebration
of all the forms of self-expression that are part of snowsports and mountain
culture.”
An audio-visual window into the fast-growing lifestyle fashion movement, emanating
from the most innovative street, snow, surf and skate brands, this unique fashion
event will be hotter than global warming.
The Designer Search & Expose contest has assembled a
who’s who from the fashion industry to review the entries. The Review
Panel will include: Carolyn Simmons , Clothing Designer for Volcom; Ross
Hill , Managing Partner for Hill’s of Kerrisdale, Rick Rayburn Menswear & Blue
Ruby; Deanne Gale , Snowboard Soft Goods Buyer for Whistler Blackcomb; Andrea
Murray , Clothing Inventor for Lululemon Athletica; Anne Morris ,
Academic Director of Fashion Design & Merchandising at the Art Institute
of Vancouver and Mark Little , Lead Merchant for Abercrombie & Fitch
Boys and Hollister Dudes Vintage Shorts, Pants and Surfwear.

The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is produced by Watermark
