FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE URBAN RAIL JAM COMES TO TOWN FOR A CALGARY STOMPEDE
TRIP FOR WHISTLER UP FOR GRABS, FEBRUARY 17, STEPHEN
AVENUE
February 9, 2007 – Whistler, BC – Whistler is a mighty
road-trip from Cow-town, and New York City is even further. For a
little slice of both right in your own backyard, Calgarians can head
to Stephen Avenue between 3:30 and 8:30pm on Saturday 17 February,
where the “steeze” of the big mountain will meet the grit of Gotham's
metropolis at the Old Spice Experience Rail Tour.
With New York's Union Square Street Session going down yesterday,
it's clear the urban rail jam is in ascendance. Old Spice
has joined forces with Whistler's biggest festival to make sure the
mountain takes it to the people with the cross-country launch of
the Old Spice Experience Rail Tour.
Trucked-in snow, a custom-constructed rail, and the best home-town
pro snowboarders will create the ultimate show as riders compete
for the top prize – a cash purse to be peer-judged.
The tour will build momentum as it travels on to Montreal's Berri
Square on 24 February and Toronto's Dundas Square on 3 March, before
culminating in the Old Spice Snowboarding Classic in Whistler at
the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival.
Visitors to the tour can enter the Old Spice Experience Contest
from 3:30pm, by stomping down to the rail jam and checking out the
action while the pros are warming up, and earn a chance to WIN the
ultimate snowboarding trip for two to Whistler, BC during the TELUS
World Ski and Snowboard Festival.
The final showdown takes place between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
Participating pro-riders have been hauling prize money from rail
jams and competitions from Whistler to Nakiska this winter. Featuring
Geoff Brown, Dwayne Wiebe, Ryan Hall, Kevin Griffin, Todd Williamson,
Tyler Trafford, Dustin Crave, TJ Schneider, Nash Lajeunesse, Jed
Anderson, Paul Gonzalez, Kael Hill and Tanner Davidson, the star-power
will be blinding.
