JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Alpine Operations
On-Hill

Your Role: This full day position requires intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders to set up sponsorship banners, safety fencing and tents. Shifts start at 7.30am until approximately 3.30pm

Ideal For: Intermediate and advanced skiers/snowboarders.This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with the operations and set up of the event on mountain.

Snowboard/Ski Event Operations Crew
On-Hill

Your Role: Multiple positions are available including marshalling during competition, maintenance of banners so they look great for spectators and the cameras & keeping the fencing safe for all competitors. You will be working directly with individual event organizers to make sure that each event runs efficiently and successfully.

Ideal For: Individuals who are intermediate to advanced skiers/snowboarders and are available for the full day. Right in the action of the event, these positions require individuals who enjoy the intensity of competition.

VIP Centre
On-Hill

Your Role: Involves hosting our Sponsors & VIP’s during on-hill alpine competitions. You will be involved in set-up & teardown of the VIP tent, checking accreditation passes and ensuring area is neat & tidy throughout the course of the day.

Ideal For: People with previous client hosting experience, who are personable and reliable.

Demo Park Crew
Off-Hill

Your Role: Assisting Reps in upload and download demo skis/snowboards/eyewear to & from exhibitor's tents on top of the hill using cats and thegondola.

Ideal For: Physically strong, hardworking, personable & responsible people as you'll be dealing with exhibitors products.

Volunteer Centre
Off-Hill

Be a part of one of the busiest areas during the TELUS World Ski & SnowboardFestival – the Volley Centre. Open from 7am to 7pm , theVolley Operations Centre is the hub of activity and thefirst point of contact for all volunteers.

Your Role: Assisting with all aspects of running the Volunteer Centre – scheduling shifts, volunteer sign in and out, answering telephone and walk-in inquiries.

Ideal For: Those with computer skills, love multi-taskingand do not mind working indoors. Outgoing, organized people who would meet and greet volunteers and offer them directionand assistance with their volunteer roles.

Village Operations
Off-Hill

Do you like variety and want to be based in the Village? Village Operations play an important role for the event, ensuring all operations & activities in the village run smoothly. Shifts are between 7am and 10pm .

Your Role: Encompasses a variety of roles – arrange thebanner set–up and tear down in the village, sponsor relations (tent set-up/tear down), stage equipment handling and actingas an on-call runner during your shift.

Ideal For: Those who have a good knowledge of the village, work well in a team, resourceful & flexible with working hours. Those who enjoy working outdoors.

Valid drivers license preferred but not essential.

Sponsor Sampling Crew
Off-Hill

Your Role: Sampling Crew are outdoor roles and will be located at various areas around Whistler Village. Our Sampling Crewis the "face of the Festival". You will be responsible for representing the event sponsors, manning their corporate tents and handing out promotional items. Quite often you will also field general resort questions and act as an ambassador of Whistler Resort.

Ideal For: Outgoing, approachable people who enjoy interacting with others. This is a great opportunity to be in the heart of the Festival action while remaining off-hill. You also enjoy working outdoors and have a good knowledge of the village.

Accreditation/Media Centre
Off-Hill

Your Role: The Accreditation/Media Centre can be an extremely busy place, and is the main resource centre for media, sponsors & VIPs to pick up their passes, arrange interviews, check competition start lists, results and schedule changes. Duties will include answering questions, accreditation/gift packaging and program guide distribution. Shifts times vary between 9am and 6pm (minimum sign-up of 3 shifts please)

Ideal For: Those with prior experience dealing with media, or excellent customer service skills. Excellent knowledge of Whistler Village and the mountains is necessary. Previous experience of the Festival is an asset.

VIP/Media Hosting
On-Hill & Off-Hill

Your Role: An important role dealing with VIPs and media. Previous experience in guest relations or dealing with VIPs and media is essential! Will involve working closely with the media on hill, monitoring media at the competition and introducing them to our resort and the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival.

Ideal For: Those with previous VIP or media hosting experience, a high level of skiing/riding experience and an excellent knowledge of Whistler Village and both mountains.

Marketing ‘Street Team’
Off-Hill

Your Role: Provide communication/information to Whistler visitors, hand out program guides to passers by, promote afternoon concerts, encourage people to fill out research questionnaire and provide general information and directions.

Ideal For: Friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic people. It is essential to have an in depth knowledge of Whistler and the TELUSWorld Ski & Snowboard Festival.

Big Air Bear Publicity Team
Off-Hill

Your Role: To chaperone or ‘be’ Big Air Bear on his numerous public appearances

Ideal For: Friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic & responsible people.

Whistler DogFest
Off-Hill

Your Role: You will assist with the coordination of theWhistler DogFest and the Annual Whistler Dog Parade, which will include set-up of the DogFest zone, placing signage and marshalling during the Dog Parade.

Ideal For: Dog lovers! and those who are personable andenjoy working outdoors.

Transportation Crew
Off-Hill

We will be requiring licensed commercial drivers with a class 4 permitto assist in transportation for VIPs /Band Members around the village and to & fromVancouver Airport to Whistler. We provide the vehicles and you drive.

Your Role: You will provide a meet & greet role at Vancouver Airport for our VIPs, media & sponsors. Drivers are also needed to provide transfers from hotels in Whistler to key events & areas in the village.

Ideal For: Responsible, personable drivers who are flexible with shift times to provide transfers (and good conversation!) for our VIPs arriving for the Festival.

Stage Crew
Off-Hill

Your Role: You will be assisting the onstage technical crew with lighting and sound. This will include the set-up, teardown and movement of equipment and some staging. You will also be involved in the production of the main stage and multimedia events including the Outdoor concert series, the Kokanee Freeride After Dark series, and the Urban Rail Session.

Ideal For: Those who have a genuine interest in stage production. Experience in lighting/sound would be an advantage, but not essential. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience in stage production. Two of these positions are ull day shifts that require you to work most days (10) of the Festival. The other positions range from 4-10hr shifts that require you to work some days of the Festival.

Production Crew
Off-Hill

Your Role: Assist the technical crew with the installation/teardown of the light and sound equipment. Various positions also exist working directly with our TV production crew.

Ideal For: Those with knowledge/background in production,lighting and/or sound. Will need to be available for 4-5days of the festival and enjoy working outdoors.

Site Crew
Off-Hill

Your Role: You will be assisting with the building and teardown of the Festival main stage as well as the movement and some building of scaffolding for the various scaffold towersthat are built within Skier’s Plaza of the Village at the base of Whistler Mountain.

Ideal For: Those that don’t mind getting their hands dirty and working outside! All those go-getters out there– this is the job for you!

MULTIMEDIA EVENTS

Multimedia encompasses a variety of film nights, photography displays, the famed 'Photographer Showdown' and the 'TheFilmmaker Showdown'.

Photographer Showdown
Off-Hill

Recognized as the world's pre-eminent action sport & lifestyle photography exposé, the Pro Photographer Showdown delivers a stunning array of work by the world's most inspiring photographers. This event is heldon April 18th at the TELUS Conference Centre and is always a sell-out event on the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival calendar.

Your Role: Set Up & Decor, Meet & Greeters, Handing out program guides, Usher, Security, Coat Check, Production Assistant, Judge & Presenter Host, Tear down crew.

Ideal For: Those who enjoy dealing with people, are flexible with shift times and have a genuine interest in film & photography. Must be available from 5pm onwards.

Filmmaker Showdown
Off-Hill

One of the highlights of the Multimedia events; the Filmmaker Showdown is the result of filmmakers gathering in Whistler on the first Friday of the Festival and then spending the next 72 hours shooting, editing and producing a 4.5 minute film. The six best films will be screened on the eveningof Thursday, April 17th at the TELUS Conference Centre.

Your Role: Submission Coordination, usher, Set Up & Decor, Meet & Greeters, Handing out program guides, Coat Check, Production Assistant, Judge & Presenter Host, Security.

Ideal For: Those available during the evening and who have a genuine interest in film and photography.

Volunteer Photographers

To capture the Festival scene, events, athletes, artists, sponsors and event goers through great digital photographs. Photos will be used in the future promotion of the Festival, and credited to the photographer. Volunteer photographers will also retain the images for their own use and portfolios.
Please note: Due to capacity limitations, media photo passes will not be provided. Interested candidates should submit some samples of their work.

Ideal For:
Aspiring/emerging photographers looking to expand their portfolio, gain experience and photo credits, be creative, and have fun.

Technical Details:
- Must have your own digital camera capable of shooting in Camera Raw format (High Resolution)
- Provide an edited CD/DVD of your best shots.
